Labuan: Norfadzilah binte Khamis from SMK Labuan emerged top student on the island with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.92.
Norfadzilah, accompanied by father Khamis, a supervisor at the Asian Supply Base and mother, Fatimah Yacoob, staff of the Port and Harbour Department, hopes to get a degree from UKM and become a teacher.
The top student for SMK Lajau was Nurul Hanis Juisin with CPGA of 3.67.
Both her parents are teachers.
Some 87 candidates (52 from SMK Labuan and 35 from SMK Lajau) sat for the examinations with the former achieving 98.08 per cent full passes (51 candidates) and the latter achieving 80 per cent (28 candidates).
Labuan's STPM performance, according to Department Director Mohd Zaki Mohd Yussof dipped by 9.20 per cent compared to 100 per cent in 2008. Compared with the national level, Labuan performance was lower by 3.88 per cent for 2009.
Meanwhile, Sandakan's SMK Tiong Hua emerged fifth places statewide.
The school scored a 100pc pass rate with full marks also in Pangajian Am, Maths, Phisic, Bio and Chemistry.
The school's outstanding achievers were Cheong Ming Yin, Ng Kuan Tung, Chia Wui Chuen, Wong Chee Hou, Lee Yee @Jack Lee, Lin Tze Yee and Chu Fui Sun.
SMK Sung Siew also managed to score 100pc in its passed rate while SM St Mary's 95.65pc.
